Collections

West & Associates, L.L.P. divides its collections practice into the following categories:

Ad-Valorem Tax

Ad-Valorem is a term used to describe the taxes levied on real estate and personal property. Our attorneys assist some of the largest counties, cities, school districts, and other governmental entities in the state in matters involving real estate taxes and property values. Together with government officials, tax assessors, and local representatives, we work to ensure an honest and fair tax collection process.

Our attorneys are known throughout Texas not only for their skill in securing accurate property valuations, but also for their deep knowledge of tax collection procedures and the Texas Property Tax Code. In addition, they provide assistance in collecting payments from delinquent taxpayers, and counseling local government bodies on the administrative process of tax collections.

Debt Collection

Assisting creditors with debt collection is not the most widely-practiced area of the law. This is especially true in Texas, where the number of personal injury attorneys is so high. Because of this, creditors and other businesses may be unaware of their rights as related to how they’re able to collect debts owed them. The attorneys of West & Associates have represented business owners and individuals in collecting debts both large and small. We help clients to develop more effective collection techniques and serve as a resource on the more technical aspects of the laws, policies, and procedures which govern this field, including the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. We understand that, for many, this is a sensitive area of the law. We strive to help our clients collect debts quickly, efficiently, and professionally.
